Wheaton, IL – Drivers in DuPage County will have a convenient option for vehicle emissions testing as a mobile unit returns to Wheaton later this month.
According to the City of Wheaton, the Illinois Air Team mobile testing unit will be stationed at Commuter Lot 9, located near Carlton Avenue and Liberty Drive, on multiple dates in May and June.
Testing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 through Friday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an additional Saturday session on May 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The unit will return again June 9 through June 12 during the same weekday hours, followed by another Saturday session on June 13.
Officials say the mobile unit provides the same emissions testing services as permanent state facilities. In addition, eligible drivers can renew their vehicle registration on-site after completing testing.
To qualify, motorists must have received a notice indicating their vehicle requires emissions testing. Officials recommend using the Illinois Air Team online eligibility tool to confirm requirements before arriving.
The service is open to all Illinois drivers, not just Wheaton residents, and parking at the commuter lot will remain available during the event.
City officials say the mobile unit is designed to make compliance easier and reduce travel time for residents needing emissions testing.
