Dayton, OH – A community-driven effort to prepare local students for the upcoming school year is returning this summer, with organizers now calling on volunteer barbers and hairstylists to step in and help.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced its second annual “Back 2 School Bash,” scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2026, at the Harrison Township Community Center in Dayton. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is designed to give children a confident start to the school year by offering free haircuts and support services.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the event relies heavily on skilled volunteers to provide haircuts for local students. Organizers say the goal is to help երեխան—families across Dayton, Harrison Township, and the greater Montgomery County area ease the financial burden of back-to-school preparation while boosting kids’ confidence.
Officials credited last year’s volunteers for making the inaugural event a success and say they hope to expand services this year. Barbers and hairstylists willing to donate their time are encouraged to sign up by Thursday, July 3.
The event will take place at the Harrison Township Community Center, located at 5945 N. Dixie Drive. In addition to haircuts, the bash is expected to include community engagement and resources aimed at supporting families ahead of the new academic year.
Those interested in volunteering can contact organizers via email or phone to register. Community leaders emphasize that even a few hours of service can make a meaningful difference for local students preparing to head back to class.
