Green Bay, Wisconsin – Showers and thunderstorms will intensify this afternoon, with the greatest risk for strong to severe storms developing between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., threatening evening travel and outdoor plans across northeast Wisconsin.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, storms are expected to form during the late afternoon and evening, mainly south of a line from Rhinelander to Sturgeon Bay. The strongest cells could produce wind gusts between 40 and 60 mph, hail up to 1 inch, and localized heavy rainfall capable of causing brief urban flooding.

Cities including Appleton, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Manitowoc face the highest risk during the evening commute. Roads such as I-41, I-43, and U.S. 10 may become slick with reduced visibility in heavy downpours. Earlier in the day, southeast winds of 15 to 30 mph will create breezy conditions that could impact high-profile vehicles.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours, and monitor alerts for rapidly changing conditions. If thunder is heard, move indoors immediately.

Storms will weaken later tonight, followed by cooler and drier air Tuesday and Wednesday with highs dropping into the 50s and low 60s. A slight chance of light rain returns Thursday afternoon. Additional warnings may be issued as storms develop later today.
