Wilmington, Ohio – A late-night line of thunderstorms could hit southwest and central Ohio between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., raising the risk of downed trees, scattered power outages, and hazardous travel on major highways while most residents are asleep.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, storms are expected to develop west of the region this evening and track east overnight. While some weakening is possible before arrival, the primary threat remains damaging wind gusts strong enough to impact infrastructure across Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus.

Rain may begin ahead of the main storms, creating slick stretches on I-75, I-71, and I-70 late this evening. By midnight, stronger cells could move into the Cincinnati metro, then push toward Dayton and central Ohio through the early morning hours. Local roads with tree cover or poor drainage may become briefly blocked or hazardous if winds increase.

Residents should keep phones charged, enable weather alerts, and avoid overnight travel if possible. Secure loose outdoor items and be prepared for sudden power loss.

Storm intensity will become clearer as activity develops to the west this evening. Additional warnings may be issued quickly overnight, with the next updates expected within hours as storms approach.
