Washington, District of Columbia – Temperatures will struggle to reach the upper 50s today, keeping conditions cool and breezy across the region as commuters head out this morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, a departing coastal system is pulling moisture offshore, but low clouds will linger through much of Sunday. Highs will range from 49° to 61° across the region, with winds gusting between 20 and 25 mph, especially along the I-95 corridor from Baltimore to Washington.
Cities including Frederick, Hagerstown, and Winchester will hover near 57° to 60°, while Washington and Baltimore remain closer to 58° to 59°. The persistent cloud cover and onshore flow will keep conditions feeling cooler, particularly near the Chesapeake Bay. Drivers on major routes like I-95, I-270, and I-66 may encounter reduced visibility at times under thicker cloud decks.
Conditions improve Monday with sunshine returning and temperatures climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s. However, another system arrives by Tuesday, bringing scattered showers and the potential for wet roads during peak travel hours.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items today due to gusty winds and dress for cooler conditions. The next update is expected later today as rain timing for Tuesday becomes more precise, with additional advisories possible if impacts increase.
