Houston, Texas – Drivers across southeast Texas could face reduced visibility before sunrise Monday as patchy fog develops, followed by a rapid warm-up into the upper 80s with gusty afternoon winds.
According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, fog may form overnight into early Monday morning with inland lows between 58 and 63 degrees and coastal areas holding closer to the mid-60s. Visibility could briefly drop on roadways including I-45, I-10, and Highway 59 during the early commute.
By late morning, skies clear quickly, setting up a mostly sunny and warm day across the region. Inland areas including Houston, Sugar Land, and Conroe are expected to reach between 83 and 88 degrees, while coastal communities like Galveston remain cooler in the upper 70s to low 80s.
South winds will increase through the afternoon, sustained around 10 to 15 mph with gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph. These winds may impact high-profile vehicles on elevated roadways and bridges, especially along the Gulf Coast.
Residents should allow extra travel time during the morning commute due to fog, then prepare for warmer temperatures and breezy conditions by midday.
Conditions remain quiet into Monday night, with no major hazards expected beyond early fog and afternoon wind.
