DuPage County, IL – A Roselle man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for a 2022 shooting that left a woman critically injured inside a crowded restaurant, according to prosecutors.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jaime Quijano, 26, was sentenced after being found guilty of multiple felony charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

The shooting occurred on July 16, 2022, at Bulldog Ale House on Irving Park Road in Roselle, located in DuPage County in the Chicago metropolitan area. Police responded just after midnight to reports of shots fired and found a woman in her 20s suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and survived.

Prosecutors say Quijano allegedly became angry inside the bar, was asked to leave, and then escalated the situation. As he exited, he reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds toward employees and patrons inside the establishment. Authorities say he continued firing as he left the building, including a shot through a glass door.

Quijano was arrested shortly after the incident at his home, where police recovered a firearm and ammunition. Officials say he fired a total of 18 rounds during the attack.

He has remained in custody since his arrest and will be required to serve at least 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Officials described the shooting as a senseless act of violence that endangered numerous lives. The victim continues her recovery following the life-altering injuries.
