La Crosse, Wisconsin – Temperatures surging toward 80°F today could break records across western Wisconsin before a sharp overnight cooldown changes conditions by early Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, highs Saturday will range from the low 60s to near 80°F, pushing close to record levels in cities like La Crosse, Eau Claire, and Winona. A weak system moving in overnight brings a slight chance of light precipitation before 9 a.m. Sunday, followed by a noticeable drop in temperatures.
By Sunday morning, lows will fall into the upper teens to upper 20s, with daytime highs only recovering into the upper 30s to low 50s. The shift marks a return to more typical late-March conditions after a brief surge of springlike warmth.
Drivers should watch for damp roads early Sunday, especially on bridges along US-53 and I-90, where cooler air may create slick spots in isolated areas. Residents are encouraged to prepare for colder mornings and dress in layers after Saturday’s warmth.
Dry and quieter weather settles in Monday through midweek, with highs mainly in the 40s and 50s. Additional updates may follow if early morning precipitation trends increase.
