Coos County, OR – A Bandon man will spend more than eight years in prison following a fatal DUI crash that killed one person and seriously injured another on Christmas Eve.

According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on December 24, 2025, along Transpacific Parkway. Investigators determined that Reef M. Berry, 22, of Bandon, was allegedly driving under the influence with passengers in the vehicle when the collision occurred. One victim died from injuries sustained in the crash, while another suffered serious injuries.

The case involved two separate victims and was prosecuted under case number 25CR71543. Authorities said the investigation included multiple law enforcement agencies and extensive evidence gathering following the deadly incident.

Berry appeared in Coos County Circuit Court on Monday, April 20, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges. Those included manslaughter in the second degree, assault in the third degree related to DUI, and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

As part of the sentencing, Berry received 75 months for the manslaughter charge. He was also sentenced to 30 consecutive months for assault, along with 364 days for the DUI charge, which will run concurrently. The combined sentence totals 105 months in custody with the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Officials confirmed Berry remains in custody following the court proceedings. Authorities also acknowledged the lasting impact on the victims and their families as the case concludes.
