Phalanx Station, Ohio – Drivers in Trumbull County could face impassable roads by early evening Sunday as Eagle Creek pushes past flood stage and spreads over key rural routes.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, Eagle Creek at Phalanx Station rose to 9.3 feet by 9 a.m. Sunday and is expected to exceed the 9.5-foot flood stage late this morning, cresting near 10.5 feet around 8 p.m. before dropping below flood stage shortly after midnight.

Low-lying roadways including Barclay Messerly Road, McConnell East Road, and Knowlton Road are expected to take on water once levels reach 11.0 feet, cutting off access and forcing detours across parts of central Trumbull County. Emergency managers warn that even shallow water can stall vehicles or sweep them off the roadway.

Residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel through the evening hours, especially near creek crossings. Charge devices, monitor local alerts, and never drive around barricades. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains the standing guidance.

Water levels are expected to fall after midnight, but additional advisories could follow if rainfall persists.
