Pontiac, MI – A 22-year-old Pontiac man is in custody following a deadly stabbing that occurred shortly after midnight Saturday in Oakland County.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded early Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the 30 block of North Roselawn in Pontiac, located north of Detroit. Deputies were dispatched after the suspect’s father called 911, reporting that his son had allegedly stabbed his live-in girlfriend.
When deputies arrived, they found a 57-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds to her torso, arms, and hands. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Authorities identified the victim as Monique Taylor.
Investigators say the suspect, who lived in the home with his father and the victim, was located in the kitchen area. A knife believed to be used in the attack was recovered nearby. He was taken into custody without incident.
According to officials, the father was in another room at the time and discovered what had happened after hearing a disturbance. The suspect allegedly told him the victim was dead.
The suspect remains lodged in the Oakland County Jail. Detectives are expected to present the case to prosecutors for formal charges as early as Monday. Authorities say the motive behind the stabbing remains under investigation.
Residents in the area may notice an increased police presence as detectives continue to process evidence.
