Gaylord, MI – Light snow is expected to taper off this evening across northern Michigan, though patchy freezing drizzle could create isolated slick spots overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, little to no additional snow accumulation is expected as temperatures fall into the low 20s to around 30 degrees tonight.
Forecasters say lingering moisture may transition into areas of freezing drizzle, which can create light icing on untreated roads, bridges, and sidewalks despite minimal snowfall totals.
Conditions improve Thursday with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs ranging from the mid-30s to mid-40s.
Looking ahead, a more active pattern returns late in the week. Friday is expected to bring a mix of rain and wintry precipitation, followed by additional rain and snow chances into Saturday.
The National Weather Service notes temperatures will gradually moderate, supporting periods of mixed precipitation rather than widespread snow.
Even with limited accumulation, overnight icing could impact early morning travel, particularly for commuters and school routes across northern Michigan.
