Denver, CO – Fire conditions are expected to escalate quickly across northeast Colorado by midday Saturday, with dry air and gusty winds creating a high-risk window for rapid fire spread.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the northeast corner of the state through the evening hours. Relative humidity is expected to drop as low as 15 to 25 percent while winds increase, creating critical fire weather conditions capable of igniting and spreading fires quickly.
Across the Front Range, including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, temperatures will climb into the 50s and 60s Saturday under sunny skies. Farther east toward Greeley, Fort Morgan, and Sterling, stronger winds and drier air will combine to heighten fire danger, especially in open grassland areas.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and delay any activity that could produce sparks. Even small ignitions could spread rapidly under these conditions.
Warmer air builds in Sunday through midweek, with highs reaching the 70s and 80s across lower elevations. The next chance for precipitation arrives late next week, but fire concerns remain elevated until then.
