Washington – Rain taps steadily on rooftops across Seattle this morning, and water levels are already climbing in nearby rivers, setting the stage for flooding concerns by this afternoon and into Friday. Streets glisten, and low-lying areas could begin to pool quickly as rainfall intensifies.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, a Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon for King, Snohomish, and surrounding counties. Rain chances reach near 100 percent at times, with repeated rounds expected to push rivers higher. A Flood Warning is already in place for the Snoqualmie River near Snoqualmie Falls and Carnation, where water levels are forecast to exceed flood stage.

Communities near Fall City, Carnation, and Duvall face the highest risk. Portions of Fall City-Carnation Road and Tolt Hill Road could see water encroachment if river levels continue rising. Urban areas like Seattle and Everett may also deal with ponding on roads and reduced visibility during heavier bursts of rain.

If you’re traveling, allow extra time on I-5 and I-90 through the afternoon and evening. Wet pavement and standing water can reduce traction quickly. Never drive through flooded roadways, as conditions can change within minutes.

Rain continues through Friday before easing into scattered showers by the weekend. Cooler air lingers, keeping highs in the 40s and low 50s. Additional warnings could be issued as rivers respond to ongoing runoff.
