Washington, D.C. – A cold start is gripping the Mid-Atlantic this morning, with near-freezing temperatures creating slick spots and a brisk feel for commuters across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, highs today will range from 33°F to 46°F, with lighter winds compared to earlier this week. Areas west of the Blue Ridge, including parts of western Maryland and the Shenandoah Valley, will see slightly milder conditions, but much of the I-95 corridor remains stuck in the 30s and 40s.
Cities including Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Fredericksburg are seeing dry conditions, though early morning temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s may allow isolated black ice on bridges and overpasses. Motorists along I-95, I-66, and I-270 should remain cautious during the early commute.
A warming trend begins Thursday, with highs climbing into the mid-40s to upper 50s under partly sunny skies. By Friday, temperatures reach the 50s to mid-60s, with increasing cloud cover and rain chances developing by evening.
Residents should prepare for cold mornings through Thursday, then a shift toward milder, wetter conditions heading into the weekend. Additional advisories may be issued as rain approaches late week.
