Salt Lake City, UT – Freezing temperatures gripping much of Utah overnight are expected to linger into midday Saturday, creating an extended to crops, landscaping, and exposed plumbing.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until noon MDT Saturday across the Wasatch Front, including Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, and Tooele. Temperatures are holding in the mid-20s to around 30 degrees, with even colder pockets dropping into the teens across central and southern valleys.

Communities from Utah Valley to Capitol Reef and the Western Canyonlands are seeing widespread frost conditions, with sensitive vegetation at high risk after early spring growth. Areas like Sanpete Valley, Castle Country, and the Sevier Valley could see the coldest readings through sunrise.

The threat continues beyond today. A Freeze Watch is in place from Saturday evening through Sunday morning for much of central and southern Utah, where another round of sub-freezing temperatures could hit the mid-20s.

Residents should cover plants, drain sprinkler systems, and protect exposed pipes immediately. While daytime temperatures will improve, additional alerts are likely as another cold night develops into Sunday morning.
