Philadelphia, Pa. – Temperatures are set to drop fast enough tonight to freeze exposed surfaces and threaten early spring plants across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware before sunrise Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, overnight lows will fall into the 20s for most of the region, with colder pockets dipping into the mid-teens across the Poconos and far northwest New Jersey. Light flurries or brief snow showers may develop this evening, especially before midnight, as colder air settles in behind a recent front.
Urban areas including Philadelphia, Camden, Wilmington, and Trenton are expected to bottom out between 25°F and 29°F by early Wednesday morning. Roads that remain damp could develop isolated slick spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants, bring pets indoors, and take precautions with outdoor plumbing. Drivers should remain alert for changing road conditions during the early morning commute.
Below-normal temperatures will persist through Wednesday night before a gradual warming trend begins late in the week. Additional updates may follow if colder conditions expand overnight.
