Wynne, Arkansas – A suspect in a deadly shooting earlier this week is now in custody after a multi-agency arrest late Thursday night.

According to Arkansas State Police, 36-year-old Edward Lampkin Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the Tuesday homicide of 34-year-old Javon Beal of Wynne. Authorities say Lampkin was taken into custody around 8:45 p.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forest City with assistance from U.S. Marshals and regional task force members.

The investigation began after Wynne Police responded to multiple 911 calls around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday reporting a shooting near the intersection of C Street and Fitzhugh Circle. Officers arrived to find Beal suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

State police say the Criminal Investigation Division took over the case at the request of local authorities and worked alongside Wynne and Forest City police to identify and locate the suspect.

Lampkin is expected to be held at the Cross County Detention Center as the case moves forward. Officials say the investigation remains active, and additional details could be released as it develops.
