Indianapolis, Ind. – A surge of unseasonable warmth is set to take hold across the Ohio Valley, bringing springlike conditions and smooth travel across Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio during the peak spring break period.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, this region will experience temperatures running 30 to 50 percent above normal from March 24 through March 30, while precipitation trends remain near normal but limited in overall coverage. This pattern supports extended sunshine with only isolated rain chances.
Across Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Columbus, daytime highs are expected to reach the mid-60s to low 70s, with mornings in the 40s and 50s. Major corridors including I-65, I-70, I-71, and I-75 are expected to remain mostly dry, supporting steady travel throughout the region.
Drivers should remain aware of patchy morning fog, especially near the Ohio River and in low-lying rural areas, but widespread hazards are not expected. The warmer air will help maintain clear road conditions and strong visibility through most of the period.
For baseball fans across the Ohio Valley, including those following the Reds, Guardians, and regional teams, the opening stretch of the season should feature comfortable conditions, with lighter layers more than sufficient.
This warm pattern is expected to hold through late March, with only minor changes possible heading into early April.
