Louisiana – Warm air and calm skies are holding steady now, but moisture is already building, setting up a shift toward damp, gray conditions by early Sunday across southeast Louisiana.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, a 40% chance of showers develops after 1 a.m. heading into Sunday, followed by a 30% chance of rain through the daytime hours. Winds shift from the south to the north as the system moves through, bringing cooler air and periods of light rain .

New Orleans, Metairie, and Gretna will see dry roads through Saturday, but conditions begin to change late at night. By early Sunday, wet pavement and patchy light rain could impact drivers along I-10, US-90, and the Crescent City Connection. Plan for reduced visibility during early travel and allow extra time if heading out.

Rain remains scattered and light, but clouds will linger, holding temperatures near 70 degrees Sunday. That’s a noticeable drop from the mid-80s warmth in place now. North winds may gust up to 25 mph at times, adding a brisk feel by afternoon.

Drier air returns Sunday night, with clearing skies and cooler lows in the upper 50s. Sunshine rebounds Monday with highs in the mid-70s, followed by a gradual warmup into the upper 70s by Tuesday and near 80 by midweek.

More updates could follow as rain timing becomes clearer. Traveling early Sunday? Watch for slick roads and changing conditions.
