Victorville, California – Strong winds are set to sweep across the High Desert today, creating hazardous travel conditions and potential power issues through early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday until 2 a.m. Friday for the Apple and Lucerne Valleys, including Victorville, Hesperia, and Apple Valley. Wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

These winds may create difficult driving conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles traveling along open desert highways. Blowing dust could also reduce visibility at times, especially in exposed areas near roadways and open areas.

Tree limbs may be knocked down, and unsecured outdoor items could become airborne. Isolated power outages are also possible in areas experiencing the strongest gusts.

Residents are urged to secure loose objects and use caution while driving, especially during peak wind hours this afternoon and evening. Conditions are expected to gradually improve after 2 a.m. Friday, though breezy weather may linger into the morning.
