Richmond, VA – Showers are sliding east of the Interstate 95 corridor Tuesday afternoon, but much of Virginia remains under stubborn cloud cover that will stretch into tonight.
According to the National Weather Service, radar trends show improving conditions west of I-81, including areas near Harrisonburg and Winchester, while light rain lingers closer to Fredericksburg and communities along I-95. Northern and central Virginia are seeing temperatures hold in the upper 30s to mid-40s under thick clouds.
Motorists along I-95 from Fredericksburg to the D.C. suburbs should stay alert for slick stretches, particularly on bridges and elevated ramps. While rainfall amounts remain light, steady cloud cover and occasional showers may slow the evening commute. Farther west toward the Shenandoah Valley, drier conditions are returning, though skies will stay mostly cloudy.
Residents should plan for a chilly, gray evening and keep rain gear nearby in case additional showers redevelop. Temperatures will dip into the 30s overnight.
Clouds are expected to linger into Wednesday morning, and additional advisories could be issued if rainfall becomes more widespread.
