Maryland – Wet flakes swirl across parts of Baltimore this morning as temperatures hover near 32 degrees, right on the edge of freezing. Snow showers may briefly coat grassy areas and colder surfaces through midday, creating slick patches on bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service, a chance of snow continues mainly between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Highs reach 36 degrees. Roads like I-95, I-83, and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway could see brief slick spots, especially on elevated ramps. Plan extra time if traveling this afternoon.

Clouds thicken tonight with lows near 31. A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain may develop after 3 a.m., transitioning to rain by midmorning Tuesday as temperatures climb to 44 degrees. Little to no snow accumulation is expected, but early icy patches remain possible before the changeover.

Steady rain continues Tuesday night with an 80% chance of precipitation. By Wednesday, highs rise to 57 with additional rain chances. Then comes a sharp warm-up. Thursday surges to 69 degrees with more showers.

That’s a nearly 40-degree swing from this morning’s chill.

Repeated rain through midweek could cause ponding in low-lying areas across central Maryland and into D.C. Meanwhile, melting followed by cooler nights may create isolated flash-freeze spots later this week.

The broader 6- to 10-day outlook favors above-normal temperatures into early next week.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight arrives just as this March warm spell builds.
