Ohio is waking up to a chilly 30 degrees in Cincinnati, but a dramatic warmup is already underway. Sunshine is breaking through clouds, and temperatures will climb quickly toward 60 degrees by afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, dry weather holds through today and tonight, with no hazardous conditions expected. Calm winds this morning turn southwest later, helping push highs near 60. It will feel more like early April than late February.
Saturday turns even warmer, reaching 61 degrees under sunny skies. That spring tease fades Saturday night as clouds increase and the pattern shifts. A chance of rain develops late Saturday night, mixing with snow at times. Little accumulation is expected initially.
Sunday brings a better chance for snow showers, especially before 7 a.m., with highs cooling to 42 degrees. By Sunday night, steadier snow becomes possible, and 1 to 2 inches of accumulation could develop before early Monday. Lows drop to 28 degrees.
Drivers along I-71, I-75, and I-275 should watch for slick spots late Sunday into Monday morning. As colder air settles in, any standing water from the weekend warmth could refreeze. This is prime flash-freeze season across southwest Ohio.
Monday stays mostly cloudy with a high near 40 and lingering rain or snow showers. Tuesday shifts wetter, with rain likely and highs rebounding into the low 50s.
March opens unsettled, but longer-range trends point toward above-normal temperatures building by midweek and into next weekend.
