Saint Albans, West Virginia – A man was shot in the face near Coal River Road at approximately 9:11 p.m. Sunday, prompting an active investigation in Kanawha County.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Feb. 23 to a reported shooting in the 12000 block of Coal River Road in Saint Albans, a corridor that connects to West Virginia Route 817 and U.S. Route 60.

Upon arrival, deputies located one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Authorities said the victim was conscious, alert, and able to speak with deputies at the scene. He was able to walk to an awaiting ambulance and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.

Investigators said the male suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. Deputies secured the area and began an investigation, with detectives actively working to identify and locate the individual responsible.

The shooting remains under active investigation. No suspect description was immediately released.

Coal River Road serves as a primary route for residents traveling between Saint Albans and nearby communities, and drivers in the area may notice increased law enforcement presence.
