New York wakes up to blowing flakes and a gray sky over Buffalo, where light snow and fog hang over the Thruway this morning. Temperatures hover near 30 degrees, and visibility has dipped at times as bands roll in off Lake Erie. It’s a classic February lake effect setup.

Snow showers continue through today with highs near 30 degrees. Additional accumulation remains light, generally under an inch during the daylight hours. Still, untreated roads may turn slick as pavement temperatures stay cold. Plan extra time on I-90 and Route 33, especially during bursts of steadier snow.

Colder air deepens tonight, with lows falling near 11 degrees. Snow showers remain likely before early Tuesday, adding minor accumulation. That sharp drop raises the risk for flash freezing where slush lingers. Wet pavement can quickly turn icy after sunset.

Tuesday brings a brief break with partial sunshine and a high near 28 degrees. But lake enhanced snow ramps up again Tuesday night into Wednesday. Forecasters call for 3 to 5 inches of accumulation across western New York through early Wednesday morning. Travel impacts should remain minor overall, mainly during evening and early morning hours when roads are coldest.

Wednesday stays snowy with highs near 34 degrees and additional scattered snow showers. By Thursday, a mix of sun and clouds returns with only a slight chance of snow and highs near 31 degrees.

A gradual warming trend develops late week into the weekend. Highs climb into the upper 30s Friday and low 40s Saturday. Early signals for the 6–10 day outlook suggest above normal temperatures building in, hinting at early spring vibes across upstate New York.

Five Day Outlook for Buffalo, NY:

Wednesday: Snow likely, high 34°F.
Thursday: Chance of snow, high 31°F.
