Albany, NY – Snow will intensify overnight across eastern New York and southern Vermont, with bands capable of dropping up to 2 inches per hour before the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday for the Capital Region, Schoharie County, the Helderbergs, the northern Taconics, the eastern Catskills, the Berkshires of western Massachusetts and southern Vermont. Snow totals will range from 4 to 10 inches across Albany, Schenectady and Rensselaer counties, with 6 to 12 inches in Bennington and Windham counties, Vermont. Heavier amounts of 8 to 14 inches are expected in Greene and Columbia counties in New York and across Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph in the Capital Region and up to 50 mph in the Catskills and Berkshires.

Roads along I-90, I-87 and Route 7 may become snow-covered and slick before sunrise. Visibility could drop below a quarter mile in heavier bands, especially in higher elevations near Windham, Hunter, Pittsfield and Bennington.

Strong winds combined with heavy, wet snow may down tree limbs and trigger scattered power outages, particularly in the Berkshires and eastern Catskills.

Residents should delay unnecessary travel and prepare for rapidly changing conditions through Monday evening. Additional advisories remain possible if snowfall rates persist into the evening commute.
