Jacksonville, Florida – Bring pets inside and secure outdoor items now as gusty winds continue through early evening, followed by wind chills dropping to 23 degrees before sunrise Monday across coastal northeast Florida.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. EST Sunday for Coastal Duval, Coastal Nassau, South Central Duval, Trout River and Western Duval counties. Northwest winds around 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph could down small limbs and make driving difficult on bridges, including the Dames Point and Buckman bridges. A Cold Weather Advisory follows from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, when wind chills are expected to fall into the lower 20s.

In Jacksonville neighborhoods from Riverside and San Marco to Arlington and Oceanway, early morning commuters will face biting cold. Fernandina Beach and Amelia City will see similar conditions along the coast.

A Freeze Watch remains in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday morning, when temperatures could drop as low as 28 degrees. Residents should cover sensitive plants, wrap exposed pipes and allow faucets to drip slowly to prevent freezing.

Additional alerts could be issued if temperatures trend colder heading into Tuesday morning.
