Minnesota air bites the face this morning as low clouds hang over Minneapolis–St. Paul and temperatures stall near 28 degrees. A steady north wind around 15 mph pushes wind chills into the mid-teens, adding a sharp February edge to the commute.

At MSP Airport, overcast skies and 10-mile visibility keep flights moving, but the cold grips untreated pavement. Side streets and shaded ramps along I-94 and I-35W remain below freezing.

Wind chills hover near 16 degrees.

The National Weather Service reports highs will struggle to move beyond 28 degrees today, with north winds gusting up to 25 mph. Clouds gradually thin late, but the cold holds firm through evening.

Drivers should watch for slick spots on bridges and overpasses, especially where melted snow refreezes. This is prime time for flash freezing across the Twin Cities. Even minor daytime melting can turn icy after sunset.

Saturday brings increasing clouds with a high near 26 degrees. Saturday night drops to around 12. Sunday stays partly sunny but colder, topping out near 21 degrees. Sunday night falls to around 8 under partly cloudy skies.

Monday delivers sunshine with a high near 22, then a modest rebound begins. Tuesday climbs toward the mid-30s with mostly sunny skies. Midweek temperatures approach the upper 20s to near 30 before moderating further late next week. Longer-range trends hint at a gradual warming stretch into early March, offering eventual spring relief.

Bundle up and allow extra time on cold pavement today.
