Oregon – Low clouds and patchy fog are hanging over the Umatilla Valley this morning, and colder air is waiting in the wings. Wet roads along I-84 could turn slick quickly by Monday night as rain begins to mix with snow.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, light rain is possible early today with areas of fog before 10 a.m. Highs reach near 45 degrees. Rain becomes steadier late tonight into Monday, with precipitation chances climbing to 90 percent. By Monday afternoon, rain may mix with snow as temperatures hover near 43 degrees.

Snow levels are expected to lower to around 1,200 feet by early Tuesday. Lows drop to 27 degrees Monday night and near 28 Tuesday night. While little to no snow accumulation is forecast in town, bursts of heavier showers could briefly coat grassy areas and create slushy patches on bridges and overpasses.

Drivers along I-84, Highway 11, and Highway 395 should plan extra time during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. This is prime time for flash freezing. If skies partially clear and temperatures fall into the 20s, untreated surfaces could ice over quickly.

Rain and snow chances continue into Wednesday, with highs near 41 and lows dipping to 25. A few snow showers linger Thursday before gradual improvement late week.

Looking ahead to President’s Day week, temperatures trend closer to seasonal norms before a milder pattern develops later in the 6–10 day outlook. Early hints of spring vibes could return across eastern Oregon after this February chill.
