New York, NY – Schools across the United States are pausing or reviewing upcoming picture days this week following renewed online claims linking an investor in Lifetouch’s parent company to documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to social media posts that gained traction over the weekend, concerns focus on Apollo Global Management, whose funds have invested in Shutterfly, the parent company of school photography provider Lifetouch. The claims reference previously released Epstein-related court filings that list numerous business figures.

Several parents have contacted school districts requesting clarification about vendor relationships and student data protections. While some districts have reportedly postponed photo sessions out of caution, others say they are actively reviewing contracts and awaiting additional information before making changes.

Lifetouch issued a public statement addressing what it called “misinformation” surrounding student privacy. The company stated that Apollo funds are investors in Shutterfly but are not involved in Lifetouch’s day-to-day operations. Lifetouch also said no Apollo employee has ever had access to student images.

Additionally, the company emphasized that it does not sell, license, or share student images for artificial intelligence training, facial recognition, or third-party purposes. Lifetouch said it complies with all applicable local, state, and national privacy laws.

There is no indication of any direct connection between school photography operations and criminal wrongdoing. However, the controversy has prompted heightened scrutiny from parents and administrators nationwide.

District officials advise families to check school communications for updates regarding scheduled picture days.
