IONIA COUNTY, MI – A driver allegedly fled after crashing into a Life Ambulance at a busy county intersection Friday morning, prompting a sheriff’s investigation.
According to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported at approximately 8:27 a.m. at the intersection of North State Road and Belding Road. Deputies said a Life Ambulance crew reported they had just been involved in a hit-and-run crash.
Investigators allege the other vehicle fled northbound on North State Road at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was described by EMS as an older model black pickup truck equipped with an aftermarket steel front bumper.
Video footage obtained from a nearby business reportedly shows an older-style black Chevrolet truck with a custom steel bumper, a full-length light bar at the top of the windshield, large aftermarket wheels and off-road tires.
Authorities have not released information about injuries connected to the crash.
