Sarasota County, Florida – Five adults were found dead Tuesday in the Amblea neighborhood near Proctor and McIntosh roads, triggering a multi-agency homicide investigation.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday reporting that an adult male had been shot at a residence in the area. Deputies arrived within minutes and located the man in the front yard, where neighbors were performing CPR.

Authorities said the victim was transported by Sarasota County Fire Department personnel but was pronounced deceased shortly afterward.

Fearing for the safety of others inside the residence, deputies entered the home and located four additional deceased adults — two women and two men.

While working to identify the victims and determine a potential suspect, detectives received information from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department indicating they were investigating a double homicide that may be connected. According to law enforcement, a suspect vehicle tied to the Fort Lauderdale case was captured on camera traveling northbound through Punta Gorda prior to the Sarasota killings.

Investigators have not released the identities of the victims. Authorities have also not announced any arrests.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the possible link between the two counties.

Residents in the area may notice an increased law enforcement presence as the investigation continues.
