Fond du Lac, Wisconsin – A late-night vehicle pursuit through Fond du Lac ended with a foot arrest after a suspect allegedly fled from law enforcement early Thursday.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy located a vehicle around 12:17 a.m. Thursday matching the description of one that had recently fled from multiple City of Fond du Lac Police officers. The vehicle was spotted entering an apartment complex and parking in a stall.

When the deputy positioned the patrol vehicle to initiate a traffic stop, authorities say the suspect rapidly accelerated, drove onto a snow-covered lawn, and nearly struck a parked vehicle. A pursuit was then initiated.

The suspect allegedly traveled from South Royal Avenue onto National Avenue, then turned westbound onto 4th Street. During the pursuit, a deputy successfully deployed a tire deflation device at the intersection of 4th Street and Fond du Lac Avenue.

The vehicle continued eastbound on 4th Street before coming to a stop at East 1st Street and Park Avenue. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted. Authorities say the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot eastbound on 4th Street but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

The suspect, a 45-year-old Fond du Lac man, was transferred to the custody of the City of Fond du Lac Police Department at the scene. He was later booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on four outstanding warrants and additional charges, including two counts of Fleeing and Eluding, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.

The pursuit lasted approximately two miles. No injuries were reported, and authorities say no damage to private or government property occurred.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department were assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department.

This incident may be of particular relevance to overnight commuters and late-shift workers traveling through central Fond du Lac streets.
