Ottawa, Illinois — Two Ottawa residents were arrested Tuesday evening after a drug task force search uncovered large quantities of narcotics, prompting multiple felony charges.
According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team (TRIDENT), assisted by the LaSalle County K9 Unit, Ottawa Police Department, LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at approximately 5:08 p.m. Tuesday at 310 Prairie St. in Ottawa.
Investigators reported recovering approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine, 28 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of MDMA, 605 hydrocodone tablets, approximately one pint of ketamine, and four 473-milliliter bottles of liquid codeine.
As a result of the search, Dustin M. Johnson, 28, and Kayla M. McCarthy, 23, both of Ottawa, were arrested. Authorities said both were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine in an amount greater than 100 grams but less than 400 grams, a Class X felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver cocaine in an amount greater than 15 grams but less than 100 grams, also a Class X felony.
Johnson and McCarthy were transported to the LaSalle County Jail, where they are being held pending detention hearings.
Officials stated Johnson was allegedly out on pretrial release at the time of his arrest in connection with an aggravated fleeing and property damage case in LaSalle County. Additional charges may be filed at his first court appearance.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The investigation was conducted by TRIDENT, a multi-agency narcotics unit serving LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam counties.
