St. Louis, Missouri – A pronounced shift toward a wetter, more springlike pattern is expected across Missouri beginning Tuesday, February 10, as the 8–14-day outlook points to above-average precipitation and temperatures running warmer than normal through Monday, February 16. The developing setup favors rain over snow and raises concerns for repeated wet periods and localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of the central United States, including Missouri, is favored to see above-average precipitation during the February 10–16 period. Temperatures are also expected to trend above seasonal norms, keeping daytime highs well above freezing and sharply reducing the risk for winter weather.

Eastern Missouri, including St. Louis and communities along the Interstate 70 and Interstate 55 corridors, is likely to see multiple rounds of rain. With soils still slow to absorb water this time of year, heavier rainfall could lead to ponding on roads and minor flooding in low-lying and urban areas. Gusty winds may accompany stronger systems at times.

Central Missouri, including Columbia and Jefferson City, and western sections near Kansas City are also expected to trend wetter than normal. Farther north, melting snow combined with rainfall could add runoff into rivers and streams, increasing hydrologic concerns as the period progresses.

Drivers should be alert for water-covered roads, especially during overnight hours, and avoid driving through flooded areas. Residents are encouraged to monitor river forecasts and local emergency updates.

With the mild, rainy pattern expected to persist through Monday, February 16, additional flood advisories or hydrologic alerts may be issued as confidence increases heading into next week.
