Boston, Massachusetts – A return to more typical February weather is expected across Massachusetts beginning Tuesday, February 10, as the 8–14 day outlook signals increasing precipitation and temperatures settling near seasonal norms through Monday, February 16. The pattern supports renewed snow chances statewide as colder air becomes more consistent.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, above-average precipitation is favored across much of New England during the February 10–16 window, including Massachusetts. Temperatures are projected to trend close to normal for mid-February, keeping many areas near the freezing mark while warmer-than-average conditions remain focused across the central United States.

This setup favors several opportunities for snow rather than one prolonged storm. Interior and higher-elevation areas of western and central Massachusetts, including the Berkshires and Worcester Hills, are more likely to see accumulating snowfall. Eastern Massachusetts, including Boston, Cambridge, and Quincy, could also see snow, particularly during overnight and early morning hours when surface temperatures drop below freezing.

With temperatures fluctuating near 32 degrees, road conditions may become slick at times, especially during commutes. Untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses could see quick refreezing if snow develops in bursts. MassDOT crews may need to treat roadways repeatedly as precipitation arrives intermittently.

Residents are encouraged to stay aware of changing conditions, allow extra travel time, and keep winter emergency supplies on hand. With the colder, wetter pattern expected to persist through Monday, February 16, additional advisories or snow-related alerts may be issued as the outlook period approaches and confidence increases.
