Authorities said a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, both from Salisbury, were arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder, robbery, and additional related criminal charges. Due to their ages, their names have not been released.
The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday, January 26, in the 11000 block of Dryden Lane. Deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack responded to reports of gunfire and discovered two victims inside a 2026 Kia Seltos SUV parked in the roadway.
One victim, identified as Derrick Knox, 46, of Salisbury, was pronounced dead at the scene by Somerset County emergency medical personnel. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore later ruled the cause and manner of death a homicide by gunshot wound.
A second victim, Kevin Pillar, 41, of Salisbury, was injured during the incident and flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a regional shock trauma center for treatment.
