Davenport, Iowa – Light snow is expected across the Quad Cities today as temperatures remain near to slightly below seasonal averages to start the week.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, occasional light snow will develop today and continue into early tonight. Snow chances range from 50 to 80 percent, with the highest likelihood focused north and northwest of the Quad Cities metro area. Accumulations are expected to remain around 1 inch or less for most locations.

While snowfall totals will be limited, forecasters caution that slippery travel conditions are possible, particularly during periods of steady snow and when combined with gusty winds. Northwest winds are expected to range from 15 to 25 mph, which may cause brief reductions in visibility in open areas.

Travel impacts are most likely along major corridors including Interstate 80, Interstate 74, Interstate 280, and U.S. Highway 61. Bridges, ramps, and untreated roads could become slick, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and allow extra stopping distance.

Temperatures today will remain in the mid to upper 20s, cold enough to support minor accumulation on road surfaces. Snow activity is expected to taper off later tonight as the system moves east.

Looking ahead, Monday is forecast to be dry and seasonable, with highs ranging from the mid-20s north to the mid-30s south. Conditions will remain quiet to start the week, though clouds will gradually increase.

On Tuesday, a weak system could bring patchy light snow or flurries, though chances remain low at this time, generally below 20 percent. No significant accumulation is expected with that system.

Today’s light snow may impact commuters, students, and delivery drivers across the Quad Cities region, particularly during the late afternoon and early evening travel period.
