Pennsylvania – Coats snap in the wind, sidewalks crunch underfoot, and exposed skin burns within minutes as a deep February cold locks in across the region. The air feels sharp and unforgiving, and anything that melts briefly during daylight refreezes fast once the sun dips.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect this morning for parts of southeastern Pennsylvania, central and southern New Jersey, northern Delaware, and northeast Maryland. Wind chills have dropped as low as 7 below zero, creating a real risk for frostbite and hypothermia without proper protection.

In Philadelphia, temperatures struggle to climb out of the low 20s today, with brisk northwest winds gusting over 30 mph at times. Bridges, ramps, and shaded side streets across the city and suburbs may turn slick as refreezing sets in. Drivers along I-95, the Schuylkill Expressway, and Route 76 should expect patches of ice, especially during early commutes.

Cold stays in control through midweek. Sunshine helps slightly Monday and Tuesday, but highs hover near 30 degrees while nighttime lows drop into the teens. That pattern raises concerns for flash freezing, even without new snow. Meteorologists are tracking a weak system by Tuesday night that could bring a light snow chance, though amounts appear limited for now.

By late week, colder air reloads behind another front, keeping February firmly entrenched through Saturday. The Great Lakes, now nearly half frozen, continue to reinforce these cold pushes into the Mid-Atlantic. Keep pets indoors, check on neighbors, and protect exposed pipes. More advisories could follow as conditions evolve.
