Spokane, WA – A Spokane County man was arrested Saturday evening after deputies say he refused to leave a home in violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order and ignored repeated commands for several hours.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. on January 26 to a residence in the 3900 block of E. Moody Road for reports that 46-year-old Marcus T. Rand was violating an active court order. Deputies confirmed the order was valid and prohibited Rand from contacting or approaching the protected party.
Authorities said Rand refused to exit the residence, locking doors, closing blinds, and allegedly recording deputies from the basement. After repeated verbal commands and warnings that force could be used, deputies obtained a search warrant.
At approximately 9:20 p.m., deputies breached the door and again ordered Rand to surrender. When he continued to ignore commands, a K9 was deployed, and deputies were able to take him into custody.
Rand received medical attention before being booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of felony Residential Burglary, and misdemeanors for Violation of a Court Order and Resisting Arrest.
The protected party was safely relocated from the home during the incident, deputies said.
