Memphis, Tennessee – Preliminary snowfall and sleet totals from the recent winter storm show significant accumulations across the Mid-South, with some areas receiving up to 10 inches of wintry precipitation.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the winter storm impacted the region from Friday night through Sunday afternoon, leaving behind widespread snow, sleet, and dangerous travel conditions. The agency released a preliminary end-of-event map Monday afternoon based on regional observations and NOHRSC data.

The highest totals were reported across northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, and parts of west Tennessee, where accumulations generally ranged from 4 to 8 inches, with localized areas approaching 10 inches. Portions of north Mississippi saw lighter totals, though icy conditions remain a concern.

Officials say roadways across the Mid-South remain icy and slick, especially where temperatures have stayed below freezing, and travel is still discouraged unless absolutely necessary.

The National Weather Service is asking residents in Lake County, Tennessee; St. Francis and Lee counties in Arkansas; McNairy County, Tennessee; and Tunica County, Mississippi to share local observations to help improve snowfall analysis and future mapping accuracy.

Forecasters emphasized that the snowfall map is preliminary and subject to refinement as additional reports are received. Even where totals were lower, lingering ice and compacted snow continue to pose hazards for drivers.

These conditions remain especially impactful for commuters, delivery drivers, and emergency responders across the region.

Residents are encouraged to submit snowfall reports through official NWS channels and continue monitoring updates as colder temperatures prolong hazardous road conditions.
