Orlando, Florida – A sharp temperature drop will impact Central Florida late Monday as a strong cold front moves through, prompting a Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory for the Orlando area, according to the National Weather Service.
A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Tuesday for Lake County and interior Volusia County, where overnight lows are expected to fall between 29 and 32 degrees. Surrounding areas, including Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Okeechobee, and inland Brevard counties, are under a Cold Weather Advisory during the same period.
Forecasters say wind chills will drop into the mid-20s to near 30 degrees, increasing the risk of cold-related impacts during the early morning hours. The coldest temperatures are expected between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday, before gradual warming begins later in the morning.
Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants, bring pets indoors, and allow faucets to drip to reduce the risk of frozen pipes. Officials also recommend checking on elderly neighbors and limiting time outdoors during the coldest hours.
This cold snap follows a warm, rainy day Monday, with afternoon highs in the 70s and lower 80s before temperatures fall rapidly after sunset.
Additional freeze chances are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with forecasters monitoring the potential for another round of cold headlines later this week.
