Little Rock, Arkansas – A widespread and dangerous winter storm is impacting nearly all of Arkansas, bringing heavy snow, sleet, and crippling ice that is expected to make travel extremely hazardous and cause power outages through Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect statewide through Sunday afternoon. Northern Arkansas, including areas such as Harrison, Mountain Home, Batesville, and Mountain View, is expected to receive 6 to 12 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts in the higher elevations of the Ozarks. Roads in these areas are likely to become snow-packed and nearly impassable.

Across central Arkansas, including Little Rock, Conway, Searcy, Benton, and Hot Springs, precipitation will fall mainly as sleet with some snow mixed in. Accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected, creating slick road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Farther south and southeast, including Pine Bluff, Monticello, Camden, Dumas, and Stuttgart, the primary concern shifts to ice. Sleet and freezing rain could result in ice accumulations ranging from one-quarter to as much as three-quarters of an inch, increasing the risk of downed trees and widespread power outages.

Travel on major corridors such as I-30, I-40, I-49, and U.S. 65 is strongly discouraged. Officials urge residents to delay all non-essential travel and prepare for prolonged disruptions. Wintry precipitation is expected to gradually taper Sunday afternoon, but dangerous conditions may linger well into the evening. Warnings remain in effect through Sunday, with additional updates likely as conditions continue to evolve.
