Louisville, Kentucky –
A powerful winter storm continues to tighten its grip on south-central Indiana and much of Kentucky, bringing heavy snow, significant ice, and the potential for widespread power outages through early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through Monday morning as waves of snow, sleet, and freezing rain move across the region. North of the Bluegrass and Western Kentucky Parkways, including Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort, and New Albany, snowfall totals of 6 to 12 inches are expected, with some isolated locations possibly exceeding those amounts.

Farther south, from Bowling Green and Glasgow to the Lake Cumberland region, conditions turn more dangerous as freezing rain mixes in. These areas could see 3 to 9 inches of snow and sleet combined, along with ice accumulations reaching up to three-quarters of an inch. That level of icing raises serious concerns for downed trees, damaged power lines, and prolonged outages.

Travel is expected to be nearly impossible at times on major corridors including I-64, I-65, I-71, and the Western Kentucky Parkway, especially overnight and during heavier precipitation. Officials strongly urge residents to avoid non-essential travel and prepare for extended disruptions.

Wintry conditions are expected to persist through Sunday night, with lingering impacts into Monday morning. Additional statements or extensions of warnings remain possible as the storm continues to evolve.
