Winnipeg, MB – A major drug and firearms investigation in Winnipeg’s William Whyte neighborhood led to the arrest of a 50-year-old man who remains in custody following a search warrant executed Wednesday evening.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, Community Support Officers executed a search warrant on Wednesday, January 22, at a residence in the 700 block of Pritchard Avenue as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. The warrant was carried out at approximately 6:38 p.m. with assistance from the Tactical Support Team.

Police say the search resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, large quantities of illegal drugs, and cash. Among the weapons recovered were a loaded Ruger .22-calibre handgun, a Savage Rascal .22 rifle, and a loaded Remington 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun.

Investigators also seized significant amounts of controlled substances, including approximately 336 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $15,135, 30 grams of crack cocaine valued at $2,450, and .77 grams of fentanyl along with 37 suspected fentanyl tablets valued at $2,790. Officers additionally recovered 87 Percocet pills and one hydromorphone pill.

Police reported that $2,526 in Canadian currency was found inside the residence. An additional $5,400 in cash was allegedly located on the suspect at the time of his arrest.

The suspect, identified by police as Joey Victor Arnal, 50, of Winnipeg, was arrested during the execution of the warrant. According to police, he has been charged with a total of 22 offenses related to firearms possession, drug trafficking, and proceeds of crime.

Police emphasized that the investigation began earlier this month after members of the North District Community Support Unit received information regarding suspected drug trafficking at the residence.

The accused remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
