Tampa, Florida – A cooler-than-normal pattern will continue across the Tampa Bay region through the first half of the week, with another cold front expected to bring scattered showers and an additional drop in temperatures from Wednesday, Jan. 14, through Friday, Jan. 17.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, a cold front that moved through over the weekend has already ushered in cooler conditions. High temperatures Monday and Tuesday will remain seasonable, generally ranging from the mid 60s to upper 70s, with mostly cloudy skies and little to no rainfall.

Conditions begin to change Wednesday as a second cold front approaches, increasing cloud cover and bringing scattered showers, especially Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Rain chances rise into the 50 to 80 percent range during this period, though widespread heavy rainfall is not expected. Motorists should still be alert for wet roads and brief reductions in visibility during showers.

By Thursday, the front will push through the region, with showers tapering off during the morning and skies gradually clearing by afternoon. Behind the front, cooler and drier air will settle across west-central Florida. Highs Thursday and Friday will range from the upper 50s to low 60s, while overnight lows drop into the 40s, with some inland locations potentially dipping into the upper 30s by Friday morning.

While no hazardous weather is anticipated, the cooler temperatures may feel noticeably chilly for Florida standards, particularly during the early morning hours. Boaters should also be aware that winds may increase slightly behind the front, creating choppier conditions on area waters.

Residents are encouraged to plan for changing conditions midweek, keep rain gear handy Wednesday, and prepare for cooler mornings late in the week. Forecast confidence is high, and additional updates will be issued if timing or rain coverage changes as the cold front approaches Tampa Bay.
