Orangeburg County, SC – Investigators are renewing calls for public assistance in a homicide case involving a Neeses woman whose remains were discovered earlier this year, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, investigators are seeking any information related to the murder of Cloe Williams, who was reported missing in February 2024 at the age of 23. Human remains were discovered on March 13 off Highway 4 in Orangeburg County, near the Neeses area.

Ravenell said an autopsy completed in late September confirmed the remains were those of Williams and determined her death was the result of a gunshot wound. With the case now officially classified as a murder investigation, authorities are urging the public to assist.

“Since this young lady’s discovery has been labeled a murder investigation, we’re asking anyone with any information to please call us,” Ravenell said. “It doesn’t matter how small or remote the tip may be.”

Investigators have not released additional details about potential suspects or the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death. The case remains active as detectives continue to work leads across Orangeburg County, the Neeses community, and surrounding areas within the Columbia metro region.

Law enforcement officials stress that even information previously shared or thought to be insignificant could be crucial in moving the investigation forward.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the Orangeburg County Communications Center at 803-534-3550. Authorities say callers can remain anonymous.
