Burlington, Vermont – Cold air remains firmly in place across Vermont this weekend, with scattered snow showers and dangerous overnight lows creating slick travel conditions and heightened cold exposure concerns.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, below-normal temperatures will persist through the weekend and into early next week. Daytime highs will generally stay in the teens across northern and central Vermont, while overnight lows fall into the single digits. By Monday morning, some areas could drop 5 to 15 degrees below zero, marking the coldest period of this stretch.

On-and-off snow showers will continue through the weekend, producing anything from a light dusting to around 2 inches of snow in spots. While snowfall amounts are not expected to be heavy, frequent bursts of snow combined with cold pavement will lead to icy roads, especially on secondary routes and mountain passes. Travel may be slow at times, particularly during early morning and evening hours.

Cities including Burlington, Montpelier, St. Johnsbury, and Newport will all remain vulnerable to slick conditions, while higher elevations may see slightly higher snow totals. Residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors, dress in layers, and ensure pets and vulnerable neighbors are protected from the cold.

Relief is on the way, as forecasters say a noticeable warm-up is expected by the middle of next week. Until then, winter weather advisories may be adjusted as snow showers continue and temperatures remain well below normal.
