LAS VEGAS — January is a common month for price adjustments across internet, cable, and streaming services, and many customers see higher bills after promotional rates expire.

Subscription prices for streaming services and cable have been rising due to challenges such as higher licensing and content production costs. In 2024, major cable providers like Comcast and Spectrum hiked their prices by hundreds of dollars, and this year, an additional $10-$20 per month increase is expected.

Streaming platform Paramount+ announced that the Essential and Premium plans will increase by $1 per month on Jan. 15, 2026. Customers can also expect increases in the form of additional fees for broadcast TV and regional sports networks.

Customers with bundle deals that include third-party services like pay TV, internet, and cell phone service are often caught unaware when promotional rates end. To avoid being caught off guard by unexpected increases, financial experts recommend regularly checking billing statements for expired promotions, switching providers when possible, and negotiating.

When negotiating price increase discounts, experts advise being reasonable about the type of discount to expect and avoiding being too aggressive, as customer service reps respond better to a courteous approach.
